How long has the kart club been around?

We’ve been around since the 1940s.

How many karts do you race in a day?

On average, we race 55 karts in a single day.

Do you run motorcycles at TCKC?

No, we only race go-karts at TCKC.

Do you race flat or winged karts?

We race both.

What is your track like?

Our track is a 1/8 packed clay oval. We maintain it during the week by watering and brushing it. The morning of a race, the track is groomed and wheel packed.  During the race, we will periodically water and/or brush the track depending on weather and track conditions, at the discretion of the club president.

What ages can race at TCKC?

We race beginning at age 4 and ending at age…well, if you can get out there and drive and you are 4 years old or over, you can race!

What type of safety equipment do I need to race?

You need a go-kart, either flat or winged, which qualifies to race in one of the classes we run. You will not be allowed to race, practice or be on the track in a kart without long pants, a fire-resistant jacket or suit (racing jacket or suit only), shoes that lace and tie, a neck brace, a full-face racing helmet (no motorcycle helmets or goggles allowed), and gloves.

How much does it cost to race?

We charge members $40 per driver, per kart to race. If a driver races more than one kart, we will give a discounted rate for the second kart.

Nonmembers are charged $60 to race. There is no discount for a second kart.

How much is a membership and what does it get me?

A membership is $50 for an individual and $80 for a family (up to two drivers max). As members, you receive a discounted racing price, in addition to ten $5 coupons you can use at each race (one per race) to further discount the cost of racing or to offset a pit pass. In addition, you receive a plaque that will be filled with all your racing victories!

One of the most important benefits of membership is that points are counted. If you are a member of our club by the last race in May, you are entitled to race for points and the championship. If you are not a member or purchase a membership after the last race in May, we do not qualify for the championship or points.

Do I have to pay to watch a race?

We allow spectators to watch for free. However, no spectators can visit the pits for ANY REASON without a pit pass. Pit passes cost $10 and every penny of that goes to pay for pit crew insurance.

If you are found in the pit area without a pit pass, you will be asked to leave immediately and the driver you are with may be disqualified.

Is there food for sale on a race day?

TCKC runs a concession stand in the Tower area.

Is there electricity available?

There are electrical hookups available, but Fairgrounds charges $20 per use, no matter how long. Therefore, any time you use the electrical at the track, we will have to charge you $20.

Can we spend the night at the track?

There are a limited number of sites available to spend the night. These are only available for two day races. You will be charged $20 per night.

I started the Main event, but didn’t complete a lap. Do I still get points?

If you take the green under power, you should get points for that race. This is tricky for the scorekeepers to track and it does gets missed once in a while. Just email the club at info@tularecountykarts.com and they will resolve the issue.
